Anime in Augmented Reality: App Places Characters Into The Real World.

Yesterday I got a lovely email from a friend turning me onto this link, in which Japanese virtual world commentator Chiho Komoriya wrote up her attempt to use the RAD sekai camera app to place a character from Eden of the East into the “real world.” Of course, it’s in Shibuya… which as we learned from last years’ Tokyo Game Show trip is about as real as I am tall.

Another interesting development in the augmented reality app world was the ultra-cool virtual counterpart to the massive Gundam statue now standing in Shizuoka. Users point their Iphone at the statue and do some alchemical magic button pushing and PRESTO, you got Char’s Zaku standing next to Amuro Ray’s RX-78... pretty spiffy, ne?
