Although the anime has been over for what seems to be ages, the manga version of Tsukasa Hojo’s excellent City Hunter-sequel-that’s-not-really-a-sequel-because-the-fans-got-mad-at-me-for-offing-a-main-character Angel Heart will continue running despite the cancellation of the Comic Bunch magazine. Hojo did not offer concrete details or other information about the manga, but did let fans know at the Japan Expo in France that he’s not ending the comic.

Angel Heart is the story of an elite assassin tracking down the donor of the heart that saved her life. The donor in question happened to be the wife of Ryo Saeba, the famous Shinjuku pervert and gun-for-hire known to ladies, scumbags, and lowlifes the world over as City Hunter. The manga and anime have been a strange but addicting mix of deep despondency, heartache, action, and puerile humor all rolled up into one, and it’s a damn shame that it never really got a shake in the states. The original City Hunter boxes were available from ADV for a few years, but went out of print and now demand some ridiculous prices online. You can buy some of the specials, which are pretty good but not amazing, at Right Stuf and other online vendors for a song.

Did you know that City Hunter ran in Shonen Jump? Makes Naruto look even tamer than it already is by comparison…
