Some of you are going to be super excited at this news and some of you are going to slam your heads into your desks. Variety is reporting today that Warner Bros. (yes, the same ones who were behind the currently stalled live action Akira project) has green lit production on a live action adaptation of Bleach based on the original manga. The movie already has Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans) as a script writer and Peter Segal as producer and possibly director as well. Other names attached to the project as producers include Michael Ewing, actor Masi Oka, and Jason Hoffs at Viz Productions while Branon Coluccio is signed on as the executive producer.
I’ve never been huge into Bleach but this is certainly something that is happening. I’m really curious to know who they are going to cast for roles but to get the guy who wrote Wrath of the Titans? That’s a good start at least.

I dont know how to feel about this . . . Bleach live action AWSOME!!!, But if warner bros butcher this it will be sacrilegious . . . this is an anouncement that I'm not sure how to feel about as it could go either way. So to Warner Bros be warned . . . Otakus everywhere are watching.

There's only two BIG problems I can see: 1. Actors, I don't know any actors that look like any of the characters 2. Hair and costumes, they're pretty odd so either they're going to rope in REALLY awesome costume makers or they're going to go down the Dragonball Evolution route * shudder*.

I agree with you Blaze. Sometimes it just doesnt do well. I love Bleach so this is crushing news for me. I hope they dont do it. but if they do they better do it right

Warner Bros. were GOING to butcher AKIRA, and now they are going to kill BLEACH, BLEACH is too big of a series and too awesome to make LIVE ACTION unless done PERFECTLY... so far all of the animes gone live action have all SUCKED...for instance THE LAST AIR BENDER...AWESOME ANIME but ONE OF THE WORST MOVIES I'VE EVER SEEN. Only if they can give me the feel and thrill of watching BLEACH will I ok this movie... if not I will: A. Sue Warner Bros. for ruining my life and dreams of making movies. B. Nuke the studio when NO ONE IS THERE (don't want dead people on my hands) C. Make BETTER LIVE ACTIONS THAN THEY COULD EVER BARELY DREAM OF (I WANT TO MAKE ANIMES AND VIDEO GAMES INTO LIVE ACTIONS... SO ROOT FOR ME PEOPLE).
