Aniplex USA at Otakon 2010

“I’m deaf, but this is some sick-ass news!”

Absolutely horrendous sound in the massive and imposing panel room, but a nice preview was put on for the first and second Gurren Lagann films and their respective Parallel Works. The second film was released on Friday at Otakon, so I guess today can be considered a special day in some sense. I’ve seen both films and I’ve got to say that they’re an absolute blast and should be considered required viewing for any fan of the TV series. They’re still hoping for a TV broadcast of the films but there are no plans to broadcast them at this point. Store.bandai-ent.com has them as well, should you be interested, and Otakon is also having a showing of the second film entitled The Lights In The Sky Are Stars.

Aniplex launched a number of websites recently and they also launched a social network site. Aniplexusa.com launched this month, and Gurrenlagannthemovie.com is also online if you want to check that out. Youtube is also showing Miracle Train, aka “Man Train”, and will soon stream ROD TV, Ghost Slayers Ayashi, and more on youtube.

Aniplex’s big strike for the convention will be the presentation of Welcome To The Space Show, which will have its premiere at Otakon. I will try my best to show up and get you a solid review, unless of course I’ve gotten my beer on and don’t want to listen to Susan Boyle singing the closing theme song. You guys hear Sharon Osbourne snap on her yet? Shit’s brutal. See the trainer at the AniplexUS youtube channel.

Coming up:

DURARARA!! OH FSDIFJHSId j aesoi j dsnf adfaoif jsf dsanjs!!!!!

Um… yeah I like this show. Somebody gon’ get some of that dough in January 2011. Check out durararausa.com for more info.

I already posted a voice cast announcement on the site here, but there is a chance that the Durarara novels are coming over as well, and the OVA will be translated. I hope and pray that they do a boxed set!

Read Or Die The Complete: This is going to be a blue-ray boxed set, containing the 3 episode ROD OVA and the 26 Episode ROD TV series. It is due this winter.

They are HOPING to bring Occult Academy over as well, but nothing is set in stone yet. Stay tuned!
