Hello there.
I’ve been meaning to write a forum guide for awhile, but I was of two minds about it for a variety of reasons. Would it be intrusive of me? Too power-trippy? How do I say what is legit and what isn’t? More importantly, the board is the property of the community, and therefore would it be overly officious for us to say what’s what beyond some simple ground rules?
After much thought we finally settled on a policy that we were all OK with. Quite simply, our approach to the forum is best summarized with the phrase “facilitate, don’t police.”
Make no mistake, we believe that the forums are one of the coolest features of this site, and we’re really excited to see them grow and change. By the same token, it’s not a free-for-all and we would like to avoid it becoming one. With this in mind we have enacted some SIMPLE guidelines, which are as follows:
One word posts or comments – After much deliberation we’re making these a ban-able offense. Too many people have been pressing “puke” too many times on the keyboard. If it doesn’t further the conversation, it shouldn’t be posted.
Avoid the standard no-nos – Excessive vulgarity, personal threats, R18 images / pr0n, or anything else that we feel would call down THE THUNDER on us.
No spam posts – Just don’t.
Trolling is not tolerated – Full stop.
Search for posts and avoid making redundant threads if possible – It’s just easier to track things this way.
Do not post links to dump sites, torrent sites, reader sites, etc. – We know they’re out there. We know they exist, we know that they can be a major resource, and we refrain from commenting on them as a completely negative thing. With that out in the open, we can’t allow them to be hyped on the site. Why? Well, I’m not a lawyer and can’t pay one. Please note that this includes infringing on other sites’ copyrights.
Do not post highly personal information – for your own sake. Be safe!
Mis-leading thread titles run the risk of being deleted or edited at any given second – They make the site hard to navigate, and by now there are enough of them to make even our patient support team groan. This is up to each moderator’s discretion… hence “runs the risk.”
We reserve the right to edit posts as we see fit if they’re over the line. If somebody chronically receives edits we’ll issue a friendly notice. If that same person disregards that warning, well, it’s up to us. We like to play fair. We hope you do too.
Regarding mods: We have two moderators on the forums and two site admins who read them on a fairly regular basis. What the mods say is what goes. Our moderation policy is designed to NOT intrude on your conversation, and we’re not here to throw weight around. Mods were nominated and voted upon and we gave plenty of thought as to who would be a good mod. So far they’ve done an excellent job and we look forward to them helping us out more in the future.
The final upshot is simply “don’t be a jerk.”
Have fun!

Cool Rules. Pretty simple and I think most of us followed them for the most part so far. but now that they're written... Time to break them! XD jk jk
easy enough!!!!!
Header made me laugh. HARD.
simple enough :D
What is this, two mods? That's news to me.
aww yea lets get this party started, or continued!! since the party has been going on awile so far

Fine! I'll stop posting spam! Gah!
Also, nice usage of the meme...
My bad.......

Hey everybody don't get upset ,for you don't like the rules make your own site .By the way i love this site.
Okay! *salutes*
you got it dude
Aye aye 'sah!
Hai Oyabun! fair and just I'd say

Bringing down THE THUNDER!! Ah that made me smile but cool stuff, understood ^=^
*thumbs up* Alright!
Indeed i agree with everything!! =D
i actually had to google some words.. but i understand now.
The last rule was the best rule of them all....."don't be a jerk." Question: if people are jerks do we need a layer to remove them from the forum?
No prob...
Best overview of rules so far..I'm impressed^^
Will do :D
hmm, now am clear on the Laws & Regulations!!
...Is this posted as a sticky anywhere in the actual forum? That would have been totally helpful. I do not think I saw it.
no spam posts - just don't I love the description on that one.
simple enough to go by. but i still have no clue how to make a form... so i'm good untill i know how! :D oh te last rule made me laugh "don't be a jerk!" XD
simple *salutes* YOSH!
alsome xD how do I write a forum can you help xD..
thanks now i know how to be carful
These are really simple rules... Shouldn't have a problem following them.
totally agree..nicely put...and remember "dont be a jerk" we are all friends here and should respect each others opinion.. ;-)
YAY rules are fun!! lol
got it
I loved this. Lol, it was easy to understand, and very helpful. It made me laugh tho too.
just follow it and we will all have candy rain and chocolate syrup rivers
great! but some things needed to be policed rather than just monitored, no do not pull off something if it is against someones opinion but rather if it offends way too many people, but fully understand you stance
Ground rules are always a good idea. If you ever think they aren't you have to think about one thing. If there are no rules in the forums, what do you get? 4chan, don't be like 4chan. Let 4chan be 4chan. x3
Glad theres no massive text of tons of rules that no one reads due to its small print and there being pages and pages of it...thanks :D
No trolling, lol. Simple Rules to Simply Follow.
im sorry im not tryin to be rude because ani.me is the best site !!! but i think we schould baable to put where i got the info, and where you can read it at for the best resources some pseople amy not no where to find it - get real thats a stupid rule but its one of ani.me so ill do my best to follow it !!! thanks for the info helps alot love rukia-chan
@rukia500 i'm assuming you're talking about the "Do not post links to dump sites, torrent sites, reader sites, etc." rule, these types of sites are for the most part illegal, that is why we don't allow linking to them, doing so could (worst case scenario) get the whole site shut down, or fined at the very least.
kk...cool
easy enough
Ummm about searching for similar forums, is there any way to make it easy to surf through them without having to glance at each one?
Yay for the elimination of unnecessary one-word posts~
@SoupyTheOctopus there's a search bar under the ani.me logo at the top of the page
Sounds all good to me! :)
