The 10 Greatest Spheres Has Heart.... But No Balls.

“How many inappropriate jokes can I work into this one?”

I love Geekosystem. I think they do a hell of a job conglomerating all of the various shades, flavors, and colors of the many pleasure-filled intellectual pursuits out there. They’re also FUN and easy to read, unlike a lot of the salutes to eye cancer that masquerade as news sites these days.

But as much as I’d like to turn myself female and deliver the children of each of GKS’ staff, I’ve got a bone to pick with them about their 10 greatest spheres list.

My specific issue?

WHERE ARE ALL THE BALLS AT IN THIS PIECE?

Gundam’s RX-79 Ball was probably taken out of contention for an obvious reason: it has arms and a gun. Fine, Geekosystem, be parochial and punctilious about this thing… it’s cool. But it still rules, and if there’s any justice in the world we will praise the RX-79 in all of its baller-ass ball glory.

A precursor to the first Federation mobile suits, the ball was originally used to work on space colonies. When the Zeon zakus started popping up and doing things like speeding through red lights and oh, say, dropping colonies onto Australia after gassing their inhabitants, RX-79s started being outfitted with canons for the sake of defense.

As it’s pretty simple to interpolate this machine into the “it makes sense” realm of plausible science fiction, the RX-79 doesn’t get as much glory as its younger brothers. But at the same time, if you look at deep sea exploration craft or other high pressure environment exploration vehicles, the ball doesn’t seem like it’s far away.

And from there… ZAKU FIGHTS! Dig this wholly unrealistic one from 08th MS Team, which you can grab from RightStuf or Amazon at an affordable price.

PS: The Phantasm sphere is also missing. WTF?
