About Me

I am a bachelor who has been to the edge of the pool without sitting still and plowed in. I enjoy Anime, Manga, Action, Horror, Cars, Electronics, and building things. Right now I am a high school teacher because I enjoy enriching the lives of students and letting them reach for their dreams. I just lay the foundation and run off to the charge of helping those that need it. I blog here for Anime and on facebook for other things. I am a street racer hobbyist, but enjoy life.

Summer Wars....Star Wars Animated?

Long time no see....but let me get busy one time.... I had heard of Summer Wars being released when I was at Anifest'10 in Dallas. D-town is beautiful, just not a cowboys fan. Summer Wars hit my hands a month ago and I was not impressed with the cover. It is attractive, yet simple and easy going. However once it starts, OMG it is a rollercoaster. First and foremost the upcoming hero is a common guy. He has no Jedi powers, he has no robots that are loyal (I know you want to know how this show compares to the sci-fi classic) I am getting there. Your male hero is a math genius who can crack Calculus 3 Puzzles in minutes and solve complex equations without breaking a sweat. He is like Luke Skywalker in this instance, we never meet his parents, and his best friend is a fellow nerd. Then his phone is his r2d2 and his c3p0 is one of the young kids in the house he ends up in for the summer. Imagine the most attractive girl at your place of employment bursts through the door and says, "I have a job, be my boyfriend for the week while I visit my grandmother and pretend to be a Tokyo U grad, plus you get a kiss from me." If someone would have asked me that at 18 or 19, maybe even 21 I would have been game for it. But then again I am not Japanese, and surely not a MATH GENIUS! LOL! That's where the story kicks off. Without ruining it for you here are the cliff notes; 1) Wonderful family dynamic that fills the cast of the old school Star Wars roles including a Vader character 2) Hard Core Computer Nerd Hacking Action....yes...you get a super evil AI that slays everything in its path 3) Ultimate Political conspiracy about Japanese Infrastructure with a family that can help it work 4) The Obi Wan Kanobe character is actually the Grand Mother who does get more powerful with her death! 5) The unsung nerd rises to heights of his own epic triumph....

Thank you guys for all the love. Well right now the teacher isn't teaching and without details, it is hard doing the right thing when other people don't so I have slaving away in corporate retail America as of late. I will get back to business once I catch up on sleep!

I'v always wanted to go to texas AND south africa... so many places i still need to go to!!! scotland is lovely when it is not rain/sleating- strangely enough it rains all the time! LOL!! jk, i like scotland really, its done me good!!! i guess this is a classic case of grass is greener on the other side! :D

Haha, I'm glad to see my assumptions of the largeness of Texas have been confirmed. Sort of reminds me of Free State in South Africa; it's sort of in the middle of SA and usually trips to the sea consisted of driving through it for hours on end. There'd be nice views of mountains as you enter it, but the further along you drove, the land flattened more and more, and you could see straight on into the horizon for miles. No space for claustrophobia :)

Texas is the only State where you can literally be on the highway for 6 to 10 hours and still be inside the state. Granted, once you get out of the major cities there is sometimes a beautiful view of hills and mountains, and other times there is desolate wasteland with ghost towns....depends on where you are going. The fastest escape from the State of Texas is a plane.

Arr, Widdy's just been here all of her life so she doesn't have perspective ;) Coming from South Africa, Scotland is a pretty nice place. I always imagine Texas to be very... big. With vast open spaces. I watch too much tv. >.<

Every place is equally attractive and equally vile depending on which eyes we gaze upon it with. Trust me, sometimes Texas is a beautiful vast land, and then other days I want it to end...
