Well for everyone that reads this blog, I love you guys. We may have never met or cracked cheesy anime jokes together, but I do. I am a Ex-Teacher as of Jan 7, 2011. I was released from my job, luckily I was another gig to pay the light bill and keep the internet going. I started a computer business, for the hard core custom jobs you kids have a wet otaku dreams about. Past that a friend of mine gave me her PS3 Netflix hook up. So I have watched tons of shows. Now I need to give you my spill and 2 cents about them.
But for right now here is the short version…
Finally watched 2006’s Tokko, not bad…rough around the edges and glad it was only 13 episodes.
Got my arm twisted by the reviews but watched “Clannad” which counts in my book as one of the cutesy shows I would avoid. Well 10 episodes in and it is a heart wrenching tear jerk. I am not going ape about it, just saying I won’t be watching season 2 unless the plot takes a happy cheerful spin. Damn I was depressed until the wedding in Episode 10.
My new Guilty Pleasure show “Sekirei” which is normally more than silly for me and more than over the top “Boob” fan service. I see why most kids avoid it and the older otaku pick it up. Interesting plot concept, for me shrinking the breasts on all of the female characters (YES I SAID IT) and giving them more personality adding a few more moments of plot and less of cleavage would have the show a solid A- instead of a B- in my book.
Kaze No Stigma – Season 2 – Fucking Epic (Yes I cursed, but I loved every moment of the second season) Deal with it.
The Sacred Blacksmith – A vulgar yet comedic twist on the anime Fantasy concept, feels like Slayers but acts more like some Japanese nerd watched the 80’s Dungeons and Dragons concept, slapped on some MOE, rubbed in some dirty jokes, and dipped it in some rough child hood memories and created this show on his 5th cup of coffee.
11 Eyes – tries to hard to merge horror, shojo, school kid, and dark in the same breath. I survived 5 episodes and vowed to never torture myself again.
Eden of the East – If any of you are old enough or were blessed to watch “The Parrallax View (70’s film)” “The President’s Men (the Watergate scandal movie)” “Logan’s Run (Epic Sci Fi Classic)” ETC...it has the dark feel of a massive conspiracy that twists your guts. But that’s after you suffer the naked hero routine, and a bit of ripping off the bourne identity then dealing with the Wall Street mentality meeting just graduating Japanese College Kids. The animation is really well done, the plot twists are dark and interesting, just suffering the stupid (yes STUPID) personalities that some of the characters have makes the show a good must see, sadly if we could get some of the personalities to even out and become hospitable then the show would get the MEGA EPIC rating from me.
Nyanokai (The Cat Boy Curse Show) – A Good Otaku Date Anime to watch. In real life I am allergic to Cats, but the show has some seriously hilarious issues that the main character must overcome. I give the voice actor in English credit, he is a jerk, he gives the main character a good side which helps every darn cat involved in the 108 curses out in one way or another. It is just getting over the curses which make it hilarious. Moe is the only thing that drags it down to my B list.
Asobi no Ikuyo – Another Cat love Dog Hate show…I loved it from start to finish. Again FAN SERVICE degrades the plot in my story, but in JAPAN Fetish always goes FTW. Ninja Cat Girls with Mecha Armor from Outer Space need to camp out in Okinawa and save the universe and human race, gee…I can’t imagine a better universe. The one thing that kills the show is showing the truth that Japanese men dream more about bigger breasts than most American guys. I agree with DV8NATION for once saying that you can kill the concept, “too much of a good thing.”
Soul Eater – Action Comedy Genius – NUFF SAID!
Corpse Princess – I always need more bullets…lol
BLEACH – I AM GLAD THE ARANCAR ARC IS OVER! I AM DONE WITH giving 6000+ hours of my life to the greatness that was BLEACH.
Infinite Stratos – MOE AWESOME ACTION COMEDY WITH MECHA...finally someone didn’t recreate SHINJI AKARI OR YUSHIRO GOWA...finally…
Well in short, life has been interesting, I thank my friends with the anime hook up, and it was awesome catching up without having a job to go to.
