So I’ve been trying to get tickets for this years Comic Con since 8:45am. But at about 8:58am, the website they used, TicketLeap, was already over capacity. So I’ve been clicking the 'Refresh’ button on my browser for over half an hour hoping that something different comes up other than “We are currently over capacity. Try again momentarily.” Every 10 minutes I’ve been getting glimpses of hope when I get the page to select how many tickets I want. But when I hit 'Proceed to Checkout’ I just get the 'Overcapacity’ screen again. Hopefully at some point I can get through and acquire a ticket; otherwise it’ll be another year without Comic Con since 2008. __

Haven’t written a blog post on here in a few weeks, so it’s about time…
Anime Los Angeles was 3 weeks ago now and it was lots of fun. Took lots of pictures and because the con is small and in a hotel, I partied a lot. One of my friends was drinking the whole time, which I found pretty hysterical! Lots of cute girls in cosplay and lots of interesting panels. Oh, the AniDotMe panel was fun. I took a lot of pics during that too (mostly of Evin, one of which I posted on the Facebook page that he later took down, lolz).
The new semester started on the 18th of January. I’m taking 2 photography classes (Digital Darkroom and B&W Film) as well as a Screen Printing class. My hours at work have been cut which in itself is a double edge sword; on one hand I have more time to focus on school and on the other hand I have a smaller paycheck. Luckily, I got my financial aid check and have enough money to survive for at least 3 months. And hopefully by the end of the week, I will have done my taxes and that will be another source of income for months to come.
I bought LBP2 the other day and it’s loads of fun. I had forgotten how much fun the first one was and the second one is probably more fun. Especially when you’re playing with other people online. All the minigames are a blast and it’s so addicting. Just like Hatsune Miku’s Project Diva games; I’m addicted to those as well. I really want to get the Fist of the North Star – Ken’s Rage game for the PS3, but I’m so busy that I don’t even know if I’d play it. Also the money aspect, I’m trying not to waste money unnecessarily.

so i started watching Shinryaku! Ika Musume…
it makes me lolz…
a lot.
it also reminds me a lot of Keroro Gunsou…
because they’re both 'shinryaku’...
and because they both have funny speech patterns (Ika ends her sentences with 'de geso’ and Keroro ends his sentences with 'de arimasu’)
and because they have funny subordinates.
p.s. – Anime Los Angeles is on Friday… and i’m super stoked!

so earlier this week i was able to get a hold of both HATSUNE MIKU PROJECT DIVA games (and lets just say i didn’t have to kill anyone for them). i’ve been playing the first game nonstop trying to unlock all the songs to play (i still have 2 to unlock). and it’s definitely a lot harder than i thought it would be (especially in Normal and Hard modes) but it’s definitely fun and addicting.
it was FINALs week at school:
for my illustrator class i had to create a PDF portfolio of the projects i did during the semester. it was easy and i think i got an A in the class.
for my corel painter class, i had one final project i had to turn in on tuesday, but i procrastinated and didn’t finish it 'till yesterday. i did my final project on Hatsune Miku using various brushes: sketch pencil, acrylic, and the calligraphy pen. it took me a lot longer that i thought it would to finish it; though i think i turned it in too late that i wont get credit for it in the class; i think i still have a B- without it and i’m glad i finished it anyway.
i started watching KIMI NI TODOKE on Monday. i’m 8 episodes in and i’m loving it! one of my guilty pleasures is watching shoujo anime and reading shoujo manga. Sawako is such a sweetheart and Kazehaya needs to ask her out already! and while i was at Barnes&Noble, i picked up the first book of KIMI NI TODOKE as well as the first book of K-ON!
ya, that’s been my week in regards to nerdy/otaku stuff.

i woke up early (and early for me is anytime before 10am) to take some family pictures for my friend. we started off by hitting up a German deli in Carlsbad and getting breakfast. The place he took me to is called Tip Top Meats and one of their main appeals in the morning is called the 'Big John Breakfast’ which is served with eggs, potatoes and all you can eat breakfast meats (bacon, ham and 3 different kinds of sausages. Those Germans sure know how to make some damn good breakfast meats and now I feel like i’m in a food coma
Afterwards, we went to the San Luis Rey mission in Oceanside to get some pictures of his family. His son is only 6 months old, so it was a challenge to get him to look at the camera for longer than 2 seconds. This might sound weird, but we started taking pictures in the cemetery; the reason being because this cemetery looks really nice (i know that sounds weird). i ended up taking around 250 pictures of them, so hopefully there’s at least 10 good ones so they can choose 1 for their holiday card.
and when i got home, there was a package waiting for me… the awesome stuff i ordered last week!!! i’ll post pictures of the stuff i ordered later. right now i’m gonna take a nap.

So in the period of a week, i’ve spent well over $400 on nerdy stuff and paint supplies…
I bought 3 PSP games:
1) Prinny: Can I Really be the Hero?
2) Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness
3) And I finally bought Valkyria Chronicles II (super stoked for this one!)
I purchased a Vocaloid artbook:

I purchased 3 Black★RockShooter related toys:
1) Black★RockShooter Figma
2) Dead Master Figma
3) Dead Master Plushy
I bought art supplies:
1) BASICS 48 acrylic color box set
2) paint brushes
3) canvas paper
Last thing I bought was a blank skateboard deck. I want to paint something anime related on it. I still haven’t decided what but I’m leaning towards one of these:
1) Hatsune Miku
2) Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star)
3) B★RS
But first I’m going to have to brush up on my acrylic painting skills and also do a test run on Corel Painter to see if I can fit the idea in my head on the skateboard.
P.S. – For anyone who reads this, how much would you be willing to spend on a custom painted skateboard with an image of Hatsune Miku or one of your favorite animes?

last week i began watching FIST OF THE NORTH STAR on Hulu because they have all 152 episodes of the original series to stream for free. this stemmed out of a coworker’s obsession with the FIST OF THE NORTH STAR: KEN’S RAGE video game and all the references he made that i didn’t understand. sometimes i dont like watching OLD anime for that specific reason… 'cause its OLD! but after watching only one episode, i was like “HOLY F@#$&G S@&T! THIS SHOW IS EPIC!” but i think what really got me hooked was the awesomely epic opening theme. it played in my head for days until i finally downloaded the song. now i listen to it constantly and it reminds me of how awesome Kenshiro and his HOKUTO SHIN KEN is. if you’d like to join me in my obsession, click the link to view Crystal King perform 'Ai O Torimodose’ sometime in 1984. enjoi!
